On September 28, 2021, during the Oakley City Council meeting, Councilmember Meadows stated that the council members represent all community members, not just a vocal minority. All citizens should be heard, even from a “silent majority.” The matter before the council was revising the zoning regulations. There was much discussion involving drive-thrus and car washes, among other businesses. Vice-mayor Pope did say there were “a dozen” vocal people, but the additional 43,000 plus community members were silent. The inference of the discussion was the overwhelming majority of Oakley residents favor fast food establishments and car washes.
Any feedback?
