I will be pursuing a thought during the strategic planning meeting tomorrow night: the city hall staffing. The city has practiced “lean and mean” too long, resulting in an inadequate number of police officers for the city, personnel working out of job descriptions, and burnout, and inefficient use of human resources. I would like to see rearrangements of staff positions, i.e., an assistant city attorned rather than an assistant to the city manager. Also, a review of the city policies which allows the city manager to have autocratic dominance over city employees, with a minimum recourse for them should they perceive oppression.
